Food For Thought
A downloadable game
Sustainability is not about perfection; it's about making the right choices every day.
Food for Thought is a mobile app created in Godot for Android phones. Its goal is to help students with their grocery shopping, reducing both costs and food waste.
Why Food for Thought?
As students, we often hear that the step to living on our own can be quite daunting. Grocery shopping independently and managing the costs of basic food items can be challenging. Some of our team members have experienced this firsthand and understand how much energy it takes. It’s particularly frustrating when you realize you’ve bought too much, and your bread or meat products expire and end up in the trash. But this waste can be prevented.
How does Food For Thought work?
The app uses innovative technology to provide you with the information you need to play a game. By becoming more aware of your food consumption through gamification, you learn to be more efficient in your purchases, as well as in the use and reduction of grocery waste.
Step 1: Scan your receipt from your weekly shopping using our app.
Step 2: Our smart AI reads the information and converts it into assets for the game. The data is then discarded on the server, sent back to the game, and not stored locally.
Step 3: Your messages are sent through the magic portal to the world of the hungry Responsibits.
Step 4: Here, you can prepare food and feed the Responsibits by being efficient with your groceries.
Step 5: If you have food left over after feeding the Responsibits, you can save it for another day.
Step 6: When all your groceries are gone, you will receive a score with tips on how to do better next time.
